Prom Season 2026: A Girl’s Guide to Never Feeling Stressed
When prom season rolls around, it’s a nightmare for those who procrastinate. Finding a dress, booking appointments, selecting shoes and jewelry, and making plans before or after can become super stressful and overwhelming. Here’s a checklist of what you should do the month before prom to make the process much more manageable:
- Get Your Outfit First
The one thing you want to get as much advance as possible is your dress. Start looking and browsing through dresses about one to two months before your prom. If you are ordering online, I suggest ordering two or three dresses, then choosing between them, and returning the others if you’re not satisfied. When shopping in person, I recommend visiting before the stores become too crowded, as it can be challenging to find a dress you like. Either way, finding your dress should be a priority and done in advance.
2. Book Your Appointments Quickly
That means your nail appointment and pedicure, eyebrows, spray tan, and hair appointment, if you so choose to do these, should be booked three to four weeks in advance. Maintain a schedule to ensure you follow a sequence, staying on track and completing tasks in the correct order (e.g., apply spray tan before nails, and eyebrows before spray tan, etc.).
3. Don’t Assume You’ll Find Things In Store
One of the issues people encounter when searching for products or shoes in person is that they assume they’ll find something even remotely close to what they pictured when they go to the store. If you have a specific vision in mind for something, consider buying it online or, at the very least, check that the store has it in stock before shopping in person.
4. Leave Lots of Time For Yourself To Get Ready
Whatever you do, don’t leave like thirty minutes for yourself to get ready. Prom is the perfect time to dedicate a ridiculous amount of time to getting prepared. This will allow you to enjoy the process without stressing about completing things in a very tight timeframe. Whatever quantity of time you think is ridiculous, add thirty minutes to it.
5. Look At The Weather Before Pictures
Nothing is worse than arriving at the designated picture spot and it being rainy and gloomy. No matter how confident you are that the weather will clear up, be sure to have a backup plan in place. Charge all your devices!
Overall, although prom can seem stressful and at times even daunting, it is just an event to finalize all the hard work you’ve put in throughout your high school career. Most importantly, make good choices and have fun!
