Last Tuesday, April 8th, the Lower Dauphin softball team played Carlisle. Carlisle came into the game with a perfect record. Making this game a tough one for the Lady Falcons.
Carlisle struck first in the game, scoring one run in the first inning. The game was scoreless until the fifth inning.
The Lady Falcons then scored three runs in the fifth inning. Jordan Frye, a freshman, hit a RBI single to put the Falcons on the board.
Carissa Wenner, a junior, batted in two more runs for the Lady Falcons. This chain of hitting gave them a 3-1 lead over Carlisle. She also pitched the entire game and had a total of thirteen strikeouts, while only giving up two hits.
In the top of the seventh inning, another run for the Lady Falcons crossed the board. Making the game 4-1.
Sadie Borrelli, a sophomore, says, “This was a really important win for us as a team. We needed to rely on each other and we did just that. We picked each other up when we were down and celebrated the small wins on the field.”
The team’s next game is next Monday, April 14th, against Gettysburg. The Lady Falcons are currently sitting with a record of 5-1.
