The deadline to enroll to most universities is May 1st, 2025, which is quickly approaching. As seniors finalize their future plans, the reality of it all can be both exciting and frightening.
“It’s a huge weight off of my chest, knowing where I am going to school next year,” admitted senior Tessa Reese, who committed to Binghamton University in March. “I am so excited for college and all those experiences, and committing to my college is just making all the excitement more real.”
For those who have already committed, the process of choosing housing and roommates is under way. Seniors going into college have the choice to opt for a random roommate or try to find people to live with that they can register with. Finding a roommate with common interests–or at least ones that you can tolerate in your living space–is crucial, and with contemporary ways to search for people like Instagram or ZeeMee, it can be hard to know exactly who you’re talking to or make a big decision on a time crunch.
“I am so excited about this group,” says senior Ella Shamash, who has found a group of five other girls to room with in a suite-style dorm.
No matter what future plans await the seniors, these important life changes are certainly exciting. Senior Lucia Schertzer, who has committed to Penn State University, is going to move to campus over the summer because she is going to join the Blue Band. She is excited about the opportunity to build a strong community in the coming years with other people who share similar interests. Her sentiment is simple: “We are…I am!”
