When you hear the term, “NFL quarterback’’, you immediately think of people like Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, CJ Stroud etc.
While most of these big name guys come from power five, big name colleges, some of the greats do not.
Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers longtime quarterback, went to Eastern Illinois. There he was the starting quarterback. Coming out of college he was the 62nd draft pick. He was first drafted by the Patriots but then was later traded to the 49ers, where he had his long-lived career.
Ethan Valentine, a sophomore says, “ He ended up getting drafted in the second round which is pretty impressive for a player having zero stars coming out of high school. He sat behind Tom Brady and was there for two super bowls.”
Josh Allen, the Bills QB1, attended Wyoming University. Before this however, Allen went to a small JUCO in California. He had a standout season, but only received scholarship offers from Wyoming and Eastern Michigan. After going on a visit to Wyoming, Eastern Michigan pulled their scholarship offer, leaving Allen with really only one choice. After his college career, he was selected by the Bills as the seventh overall draft pick.
Sadie Borrelli, a sophomore says, “Josh Allen is a great quarterback and the Bills are lucky to have him. His story is proof to never give up and keep chasing your dreams.”
Overall, their stories are proof that if you want something bad enough you can achieve it. It is never too late to start.
