As high school students, we tend to wake up 10-20 minutes before we have to leave the house to get to school on time. This can make us feel so rushed to leave the door and make sure we have everything for school.
However, there are ways not to feel rushed in the mornings and to be able to feel energized and confident to start your day. Having a well-structured morning routine plays a big role in self-care practice.
Getting started to make a well-structured morning routine, it is crucial to have a balanced sleep schedule, having about seven or eight hours of sleep. Here are a couple of tips to help structure your own morning routine without feeling rushed:
- Prepare for your morning the night before
- Things to prepare the night before could be the outfit you would want to wear, your lunch, making sure you have everything you need in your backpack, and etc.
- Limit screen time before bed
- It’s tempting to scroll on your social media before going to bed, however, there are better ways to unwind, such as reading a book or journaling about your day.
- Avoid checking your phone in the morning
- Going on your phone once you wake up can be a very bad habit, especially since you can lose track of time when you need to be getting ready for your day.
- Wake up an hour before you need to leave your house
- Waking up an hour before you leave gives you plenty of time to do your hair, makeup, having a good breakfast, and etc.
