Our local area is currently experiencing an abundance of sicknesses, especially in schools.
Lower Dauphin High School’s administration recently sent out a message to the community’s families urging them not to attend school if they are taking over-the-counter medications. With students and staff taking sick days when they need it, illnesses will be less likely to spread and affect everyday activities.
“I think it’s really important to take a rest day if you need one, rather than making others sick,” says sophomore Hope Millar.
Another local school, Bishop McDevitt High School, made the executive decision to take a few mandatory virtual days because of how many members of their student body and staff were sick. They are hoping to resume in-person classes next week, but were unable to maintain a quality of education due to lack of staff to cover the absences. “There have really been a lot of illnesses going around recently,” says senior Lucia Schertzer.
If you are sick, make sure to prioritize self-care and take a few days off of school if needed. Getting rest is important to your health and the health of those around you!
