The Lower Dauphin girls Basketball team had their last home game of the season last Friday. The game was extra special though, because they were showing some appreciation for their two senior leaders.
Addy Misiolek and Janae Swartz are the team’s only seniors this year, but this team does not lack leadership.
Last year the team had a losing record. Their season was cut short and they did not make it to the playoffs. This year the team has a winning record and is set to be in a good position going into the postseason.
The team’s senior night game was last Friday, January 31st, against Mifflin County. The game was a thriller and in a close one, the Lady Falcons ended up getting a senior night victory. The final score was 30-28.
Addy Moran says, “We came into senior night with a lot of emotions because our team is like family. Janae did a great job helping us turn our emotions into motivation to come out strong and hard. We kept the lead for a while, but late in the game Mifflin made a comeback. Our bench stayed hype even when we lost the lead which is encouraging to the people on the court. Joselyn Swartz, a sophomore player, was able to get a few defensive stops that ultimately gave us the ball back with a chance to win. Our final play was very unselfish. It would have been easy for Joselyn to take the game winning baseline shot and get credit for the team’s win, however, she gave it up for a higher percentage layup to her teammate that ultimately resulted in our senior night buzzer beater.”
The Lady Falcons take the court next again in postseason play!
