The halftime show is the highlight of the Super Bowl for many Americans. This year, Kendrick Lamar takes over the stage and is expected to make waves. But based on past performances, what can we expect from the new Grammy winner?
Some are predicting that it will be less like a concert and more an experience. Past concerts held by the two-time grammy winner have featured great lights and effects, amazing choreography, and a minimalistic stage design that ends up making the performance better.
Addi Kuntzman, grade 10, said, “I’m excited for the performance and choreography, but based on recent halftime shows, I’m not sure if it will be appropriate for younger viewers.”
Arguably more awaited, however, is the collaboration with SZA. Recently, the duo has collabed on a couple songs together and she will be performing with him when they come to Hersheypark Stadium this summer.
Isaiah Shockley, grade 10, said, “I’m excited to see what Kendrick and SZA put together for the halftime show. Depending on how this goes, I may splurge on some tickets when they come to Hershey.”
As for what songs will be played, it is expected that he will select songs from his biggest albums (e.i. “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers”, “Good Kid”, “M.A.A.D City”, and “GNX”).
Overall, the American public can expect this halftime show to be show-stopping. It is also a great time to decide whether or not you’ll go to the 37-year-old’s upcoming concert in Hershey. Whatever your decision, it will be a nice break from what should be a competitive and exciting game.
