Most families in our area decorate their living room with Christmas trees during the holiday, but the question arises: are real Christmas trees better than fake Christmas trees?
While artificial Christmas trees have grown exponentially in popularity due to the convenience they offer, as well as the fact that they are allergy-compatible, genuine Christmas trees will always have a place in the hearts of many people, especially those with warm Christmas memories tied to them. Natural trees also boast an irreplicable pine smell to fill your home, though they may be a bit more difficult to acquire.
Locally, there are several options as to where to find your Christmas tree this season. While some farms allow customers to do the selection, and possibly the cutting down, of the trees themselves, other farms have pre-cut trees that customers can choose from. You can visit Strites Orchard, Haring Tree Farm, Miller’s Christmas Tree Farm, Shenck’s Christmas Trees, or a variety of others to get a tree.
“I prefer real trees,” says senior Kate Wallace, noting that she enjoys the scent that the trees give off.
Sophomore Alex Elicker agrees, specifying that his preference is a “real tree 100%, no other option. If it isn’t a real tree it isn’t a real Christmas tree, unless you have severe allergies.”
Meanwhile, sophomore Hope Millar remarks that she and her family “have a fake Christmas tree,” due to the fact that they are easier and more inexpensive to attain and upkeep.
