The Philadelphia 76ers are falling apart following continuous challenges not being executed within the team as the NBA season continues to fly.
The 76ers are currently 2-12 on the season, marking them in last place in the Eastern Conference. Tension on the team and in the city of Philadelphia is growing by the minute regarding this team.
Following the Sixers’ 89-106 defeat to the Miami Heat, the Sixers locker room experienced a heated moment following star Tyrese Maxey calling MVP Joel Embiid out after failing to show up to team practices, meetings, and other events late.
While a close member of the Sixers who attended the meeting leaked this information to the press, Embiid is more worried about finding who leaked this information, than making his way back to the court following continuous sittings due to a knee injury.
“Honestly, it’s time to get rid of him (Embiid) if he isn’t going to play,” said Lower Dauphin junior Avery Moran. After winning the gold medal in Paris at the 2024 Olympics, Embiid seemed to show a lack of urgency to wear the Philadelphia red, white and blue. Embiid and the 76ers coaches are sitting him as much as possible to fully heal and stay healthy for playoffs, but Lower Dauphin junior Makenna Anderson made the point of saying, “They have to start winning before they even think about the playoffs.” Embiid has only played in four of the last 14 games.
Injuries have been a huge story in the Sixers 2024-2025 season campaign in the early weeks of the season. Star point guard Tyrese Maxey has been struggling to return to the court with a hamstring injury early in the season. Paul George, a new coming forward to Philadelphia, continues to sit out after entering the season with a significant knee injury, and point guard Kyle Lowry is fighting a hip strain.
While things are looking shaky for the Sixers now, the future is bright for Jared McCain, the 16th pick in the 2024 NBA draft. McCain has strived in the Philadelphia jersey, leading the team stats for multiple games has he begins his NBA career. McCain has averaged 15 points, and two rebounds a game with a 47% field goal percentage.
The 76ers look to bounce back from their five-game losing streak on Friday, November 22nd, against the Brooklyn Nets in the opening round of the NBA Cup.
