Penn State fans were on the edge of their seats in week two of the college football season watching a far-to-close game against unranked Bowling Green.
The Nittany Lions went into week two with their heads held high after an absolute domination in the season opener against West Virginia, but seemed to be slumped in what was expected to be a blowout against Bowling Green.
Thanks to Nichoals Singleton, the Nittany Lion fans were able to take a sigh of relief in the final four minutes of the fourth quarter following a 41-yard reel into the endzone to lift Penn State’s 27-24 lead to a final score of 34-27.
The Penn State defense came out nearly asleep. The defense’s poor early performance led to Bowling Green scoring on all of their first three-possessions. Their 17-7 early lead brought them into halftime leading the Nittany Lions 24-20.
Luckily for Penn State fans, the defense was done leaving their crowd gagged, and woke up in the second half.
The Penn State defense forced three punts, and two interceptions to lead the Nittany Lions comeback.
Drew Allar had a decent performance, but was expected to bring much more to the table. Allar threw 13-20 for 204 yards, as well as put two touchdowns on the board. Allar threw one interception on the day.
The Savior for Happy Valley, Nick Singleton, had 13 carries for 119 yards and the game winning touchdown.
“I really think Penn State is going to make it to the playoffs, but I was definitely terrified watching the game Saturday,” said Junior Makenna Anderson.
“Penn State scared my dad pretty bad last weekend,” said Junior Emily Miller.
Penn State without a doubt needs to play better to hold a chance in making it as far in the season as they are expected to.
