Taylor Swift shocked the world at the Grammys just under a week ago, when she unexpectedly announced her 11th studio album, which will be released on April 19th. The album is to be titled The Tortured Poets Department, and she captioned the announcement post with, “All’s fair in love and poetry.” The unveiled tracklist, seen on the vinyl photos, showed collaborations with Florence and the Machine and Post Malone. Marshall Womer, sophomore, speculates that the album could be a rock album.
As the news makes its way through the school, students react in different ways. Many students, such as junior Faith Fausnight, are ecstatic about the news. “I’m really excited that she is releasing new music because recently she has been making her older albums into Taylor’s Versions so she can have the licenses and everything, while adding almost like little easter eggs it seems, which is fun, but I am so ready for new music!” Fausnight exclaims.
Other students, such as senior Beni Bartos, haven’t yet heard the news. “I didn’t know she had a new album,” Bartos says.
As Swift continues to surprise and amaze her fans, Lower Dauphin students await her newest work with anticipation.
