In their Tuesday, Dec. 12 home opener, Lower Dauphin will look for their first win, after falling in two out-of-division games to begin the season, against a new-look Cedar Cliff.
The game will be streamed on the Falcon Broadcast Channel YouTube page (linked here) with live commentary added from seniors Kyle Barber and Ethan Kurtz.
Before the matchup, here is a look at players to watch on both sides.
Victoria Irwin, junior, Lower Dauphin
Irwin has started out hot in the 2023-24 season averaging seven points per game (ppg) and collecting five rebounds against Central York. The junior is stepping into a bigger role following the graduation of a strong 2023 senior class and, thus far, proved that she deserves her spot in the starting lineup. Look for her to make a big impact on both offense and defense against the Colts.
Maddy Cavalier, freshman, Cedar Cliff
Despite lacking experience as a first-year player, Cavalier has already had a huge role in the 2-1 start to the year for Cedar Cliff. Averaging 9.3 ppg is second on the team, but her value goes beyond that. She has also played exceptionally well defensively with 10 steals this season and an additional pair of blocks against Harrisburg last Tuesday. Cavalier will play well up and down the court and is a must watch in this contest.
Cadyn Eismann, senior, Lower Dauphin
The senior guard, also a superstar lacrosse player, is one of the biggest pieces to this LD team that has seen deep playoff runs the past two seasons. Eismann is a big threat from beyond the arc, burying four triples on the season. Also aggressive on defense, her presence played a big part in the excellence of the Falcon defense over her career.
The 0-2 Falcons possess a great opportunity for a win against an inexperienced side that returns little varsity experience and no starters from their state title game run last year.
The Colts lineup with two sophomores, two freshmen and a senior in the starting five with a handful of other underclassmen coming off of the bench. That lack of varsity action could be very helpful in getting LD headed in a positive direction.
