The Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy’s “Chicken Patty” team recently started their first portion of their “Do Good December” volunteer project at the Capitol Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in the Linglestown-Harrisburg area, where they decorated ornaments in spirit of the upcoming holidays.
Many participants in Chick-fil-A’s “Do Good” projects recognize that what might seem like a small project devoted to spreading kindness can be something extremely important and a source of happiness for those it helps. “It’s so much more than just a project, it’s about extending a helping hand and being willing to devote time into a great cause”, says Junior member Addison Whitmeyer.
The Chick Fil A program has been going on for many years at Lower Dauphin, with members like Virginia Huntzinger describing it as a “really great learning experience”, giving members the opportunity to “be more involved in the community and really make an impact on others”.
Member Janae Swartz was particularly instrumental in Team “Chicken Patty’s” trip, being one of the key organizers of the dates and logistics for the project. Swartz described the trip as “really fun” and shared how she “felt good to hang out with residents and put smiles on their faces who might not get to do these things often”.
Team “Chicken Patty’s” project is far from over, with them returning to the Rehabilitation Center soon and once more after that, spreading holiday cheer in the process.
