Fear of God Athletics, the apparel collaboration between luxury brand Fear of God and Adidas, has finally been released on Adidas CONFIRMED and the Fear of God website. After waiting for two years since the initial announcement of the partnership, the hype had faded a little, however it was evidently still present. That is, it was until the prices on the products were revealed.
Many are critical of the pricing on the collaboration’s products. For instance, the footwear. The Fear of God Athletics I Basketball sneaker (Which I have ordered and will likely review when it arrives) is one of the most awaited products, and it is priced at $250. The 86’ LO, another sneaker in the collection, is $200. The Fear of God Athletics Los Angeles Runner, which is considered the “dad shoe” of the collaboration, has a price tag of $170. The cheapest piece in the collection is the Fear of God Athletics Adilette (A slide shoe), which is at a measly $100. The clothing is also extremely pricey, easily coming in the range of $200 and up.
Many consider this collaboration to be a “flop”, as only a few pieces are sold out on the Fear of God website. Do Lower Dauphin students think this is a “flop”? “It’s kind of a lot,” Says Jasmine Prieto, a junior. “They kind of look like they’re trying to copy Yeezy”. Damon Smith, a senior, agrees. “It’s not shocking, it’s to be expected. That’s the way it is with designer clothes” He claimed. Ethan Kurtz, also a senior, has a different opinion. “They look clean, and I think you can justify spending more on shoes than clothing,” He said.
So, is the Fear of God Athletics collaboration a “flop”? While it seems much of the product is sitting on the website, the sneakers on the Adidas CONFIRMED app sold out. So in my opinion, only time will tell whether this collaboration is successful or not.
