With four out of six of her “stolen” albums being re-recorded, Taylor Swift is only gaining in popularity. As these new albums get released, fans are slowly transitioning the songs in their playlists to be that of the “(Taylor’s Version)” variety.
Swift’s decision to re-record the albums following the loss of her rights to them was an unusual one, but one that inspired people to stand up for themselves, especially young women, serving as just one example of Swift being an empowering role model for those that look up to her.
One of the slowdowns to the re-recorded songs not fully replacing their older “stolen” counterparts is the lack of knowledge involving what the re-recordings mean and a lack of effort in changing the song someone listens to every day just for minor, often unnoticeable changes.
However, once it is clear that Swift is intentionally re-recording her music in order to own it, it is simply a matter of slowly making the shift to the re-recorded songs. Fortunately, a fan of Swift’s has created a website that does all the work for you.
The site, titled “Only (Taylor’s Version)” is completely free and easy to use. Users simply log in to their Spotify account via the website and, with the click of a button, the songs will be replaced on all of their playlists.
The site includes a link to an NPR article explaining why Swift chose to re-record her catalog, including more specific information about the specific business deals and legal details behind the decision.
Supporters of the website are showing their gratitude to the founder of the site, Stephen Kernan, by donating to him on the “Buy Me a Coffee” website to help pay his student loans.
