Nearly 30 members of the Lower Dauphin class of 2023 will play collegiate athletics over the course of the 2023-24 season.
Here is a look after the close of most fall sports seasons and the beginning of the winter season at the success of some former Falcons, headlined by a phenomenal season by Katelyn Economopoulos and Kutztown along with a solid start to Lilli Knudsen’s career as an Alvernia Golden Wolf.
Katelyn Economopoulos, Kutztown University, soccer
Economopoulos has continued her success for the Golden Bears mentioned in the last edition, adding two assists and two goals in an additional eight games. The pair of goals were the difference in a 2-1 win over Mansfield Oct. 28. Her incredible play earned her the honor of PSAC Freshman of the Year and a spot on the PSAC East Division First Team.
Lilli Knudsen, Alvernia University, basketball
Through three games, the freshman has seen 17 minutes, making an impact with five points against Penn State Brandywine and recording three rebounds thus far as the Golden Wolves have started the year 2-1.
Vivian Merry, Stevenson University, field hockey
Merry appeared in 14 games over the course of her freshman campaign as a Mustang. She was able to produce four shots on goals while seeing 287 minutes of action.
Morgan Sparks, Frostburg State University, field hockey
The Bobcat played 96 minutes for Frostburg and added a shot on goal.
Brynn Shaffer, Michigan State University, field hockey
Shaffer recorded 81 minutes for the Spartans while putting up one shot on goal playing as a midfielder.
