It is no secret that the first three weeks of the NFL season haves been nothing short of an absolute nightmare. Star players have already gotten put on injured reserve left and right, with some even maintaining season-ending injuries through week three, this NFL season has been unreal.
Aaron Rodgers, New York Jets, torn achilles
In star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ fourth play as a New York Jet, his season has been cut short completely after suffering a torn left achilles. Many questions have risen into the air when it comes to his career moving forward.
Rodgers tore his left achilles after being sacked by Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd. The world genuinely could not have been so surprised that his first season with the New York Jets was cut so incredibly short. The trade this off-season was highly anticipated and gave Jets fans so much hope.
Unfortunately for Jets fans, they have been left with Zach Wilson. Wilson has thrown a disappointing 44/84 with only two touchdown passes and four interceptions. Zach Wilson just simply is not the answer for the Jet’s franchise, and the fanbase was ready for this fresh start with Rodgers.
The Jets won their first game of the season with a 22-16 scoreline against the Buffalo Bills, but have lost their last two against the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots. The Jets are facing the Kansas City Chiefs in week four, and it is expected to be nothing short of a complete blowout win for Kansas City.
Rodgers’ injury has already impacted the Jets so much just heading into the fourth week of the season. still has a chance of coming back very very late this season, but it is a bit unlikely. While there is some hope surrounding his return, this injury has even brought the topic of retirement into conversations.
Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns, left knee
Nick Chubb, running back for the Cleveland Browns, has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 season with a left knee injury.
While it has not been fully confirmed what Chubb’s injury exactly is, just by seeing the play in which he got hurt is nothing but absolutely devastating.
Chubb sustained the injury after a tackle by Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, following a five-yard rushing play towards the Steelers’ goal line. Chubb was screaming in pain and was almost immediately ruled out for the rest of the game.
NFL fans have been nothing but extremely supportive of the all-star running back, sending him nothing but prayers and well wishes.
The Browns quickly tried to sign free agents as Chubb has been ruled out for the year, and they signed Kareem Hunt this week.
Chubb is hopeful to return at the beginning of the 2024 season.
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints, shoulder
Saints veteran quarterback Derek Carr left the team’s loss to the Packers early on Sunday with what was ruled to be a sprained AC joint.
As of right now, Carr is a day-of or gametime decision when it comes to him playing this Sunday against the Buccaneers. Luckily, the Saints are very confident in Jameis Winston if Carr does happen to fall through.
Carr is expected to possibly come back this weekend, or next.
Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers, knee
Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams tore his ACL in the team’s win against the Vikings in week three.
Williams has had 19 catches for 249 yards and a touchdown in the first three games of the season.
For the team, Williams’ injury will be opening a great opportunity for rookie Quentin Johnston. The fanbase is very excited to see what he can do.
Mike Williams will not be returning this season.
Dallas Cowboys, Trevon Diggs, knee
Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs tore his ACL in training.
Diggs suffered this injury during a one-on-one drill in practice and was quickly seen on crutches shortly after the injury.
This injury has left Cowboys fans extremely disappointed, but the team is definitely still Super Bowl contenders even without Diggs.
Trevon Diggs will not return this season.
