Danelo Cavalcante escaped from Chester County prison on August 31st, 2023 around 8 in the morning. Danelo is 5 feet and 2 inches tall and is native to Brazil. He escaped Brazil and moved to America a few years ago after being wanted for being related to a homicide. He also killed his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her to death more than 30 times in front of her two young children in the United States.
Danelo escaped prison by “crab walking” up a wall and climbing over razor wire and escaping. “Crab walking” is basically just when someone uses their arms and legs to hold themselves up in between two walls and climb up. He has been on the run for 14 days and he was caught on September 13th, 2023 a little bit after 8:00 a.m.
For 14 days, Cavalcante was spotted on multiple trail and ring cameras and eventually was spotted at Longwood Gardens. Longwoods Gardens is in Chester County and has had a history for escaped convicts being hard to find. He also broke into someone’s garage and stole a 22 caliber rifle. He also shaved his facial hair a few days before he was captured. Another person of Chester County reported seeing him in their kitchen around 3 in the morning.
Danelo Cavalcante was spotted and captured in a wooded area on Wednesday, September 13th, around 20 miles outside of the search area. Then he was caught by a K9 police dog named Yoda after climbing under thick bushes carrying his rifle. Then Yoda went and bit him and held onto him so he couldn’t escape.
Danelo was captured wearing a Philadelphia Eagles sweatshirt which we can assume was stolen from a resident of Chester County. Then he was sentenced to The State Correctional Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
